Melanie Richardson Dundy, author of this story about the Oregon Trail, is originally from the Chicago area. She studied writing at Southern Illinois University and the University of Iowa.
Today, she and her husband, Mike, and their dog, Charlie, live outside of Portland, Oregon — just a few miles from the end of the Oregon Trail.
